Instead, he describes it as a crisis of mind, meaning, and soul — rooted in the question of who we believe we are on this planet, and who we need to become to create a future in which all life can thrive.

For Matthijs, this is where a Leasership Lab such as the Oogst van Morgen becomes truly meaningful. It is not only about regenerating landscapes or restoring ecological processes, but about restoring a community of life — reconnecting people, places, and perspectives.

Within the Oogst van Morgen, Commonland, Akademie van Plaats, Bioregional Weaving Labs Collective, Frisse Blikken, and Oogst van Overmorgen work alongside seven Dutch landscapes to strengthen holistic landscape development in the Netherlands and at the delta level. It creates a space for reflection, connection, and collective learning, recognizing that lasting change arises when inner transformation and outer action go hand in hand.
