FULL FILM Heart of Hyde Park: Stories of Small Businesses

Описание: This project was born out of our desire to understand the stories of Hyde Park small businesses and their complex relationship with the University of Chicago, as narrated by small business owners themselves.

This documentary draws from 15 hours of interviews with 8 small business owners and 4 community leaders. We acknowledge that our positionality as University of Chicago students is inseparable from our work. We recognize the long-term efforts of other student organizations, individuals, and community leaders, and hope that this documentary builds upon their work.

Our film is in no way representative of all perspectives or stories of small business owners. Thus, if you are a student, we encourage you to seek these perspectives yourself, to learn from and support the small businesses that embody the heart of our home, the heart of Hyde Park.
