Recorded at the Crown Inn, during the 2nd UK Boogie Woogie Festival, in July 2006, Thomas Aufermann sings Big Joe Turner's "Low Down Dog". Thomas is accompanied by Ricky Nye who is joined at the keyboard by Jörg Hegemann. The impromptu band features Howard Meyrick (sax), Chris Davidson (tea chest bass) and Ron Meldrum (drums). Watching on are Jean-Pierre Bertrand and Jelly Germain.
The festival initially took place in the village hall at Fontmell Magna in Dorset but eventually moved to 'Stur'.
The festival attracted some of the finest boogie woogie pianists from the UK, Europe and America. Star performers included Little Willie Littlefield, Bob Seeley, Jean Pierre Bertrand and Axel Zwingenberger. UK pianists included the inimitable Big John Carter, James Goodwin, Neville Dickie and Mike Denham. The festival was the brainchild of pianist Julian Phillips assisted by Jo O'Connell.
Sadly, despite it's popularity, the festival was another victim of Covid-19 and could no longer continue.
