Dog rescued from ice-covered Danube in Budapest | ABS-CBN News

Описание: Hungarian firefighters braved freezing conditions on Tuesday (January 13) to save a dog that fell into frigid water and broken ice, as extreme winter weather swept across the country.
Rescue teams used specialised equipment, including a raft, to reach the animal, which had clung to the ice edge.
Footage released by the National Disaster Management Directorate of the Interior Ministry showed firefighters and a diver quickly navigating the fragile ice before pulling the dog to safety onto their rescue raft.
Once ashore, the animal was carried into an emergency vehicle, where rescuers used towels and blankets to regulate its temperature. The dog was later transferred to a veterinarian for further care, officials said.
The cold snap briefly shut down Budapest Airport on Tuesday and caused Lake Balaton, Central Europe's largest lake, to freeze almost entirely, a rare occurrence as winters in the region have grown increasingly mild over the past decade.
Officials warned that the frozen lake remains dangerous despite its impressive coverage. Shoreline measurements show ice thickness between 2 cm and 9 cm, far below safe levels for walking or skating.
