This is the second of three trips into the remote rainforests of the island of Obi in The Spice Islands, searching for one of the rarest and least-known butterflies on Earth — the Aesacus Birdwing.
This travelog follows a journey through mangroves, rivers, and swamp forests to capture rare footage of the Aesacus Birdwing in its natural habitat. It highlights the extraordinary biodiversity of Obi, home to unique species such as the Obi Cuscus and many rare tropical birds and insects.
Through talking to Walter, my guide and local personality, we gain a unique insight into how the people of Obi relate to nature and their forests.
