Saskatchewan River Forks | European Explorers Gateway to the Canadian Prairies 【4K】

Описание: This area is where the North and South Saskatchewan rivers merge to create the Saskatchewan River.

A major intersection when waterways were important to transportation on the Canadian prairies.

The first European explorers to reach this point was in 1692 under Henry Kelsey of the Hudson's Bay Company.

Fort Le Jonquière was established in 1751 by Jacques Legardeur de Saint-Pierre near the forks.

In 1753 Fort St. Louis was established in the area by Louis de la Corne, Chevalier de la Corne.

Today the forks attract tourists, canoeists and recreational fishing.
