A few months back I found an incredible deal on Facebook Marketplace; a Rode NT5 microphone for $20, and while testing this microphone I ended up writing and recording a new song. I make music on a budget in my home studio, so I'm limited to mostly Logic Pro's stock plugins, my Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 gen3 interface and lately my vocal mic of choice, the Shure SM58. As I look back on this project; it's clear to me that musicians like myself should be focused capturing the best performance we can; not chasing after the most expensive/newest piece of gear. I won't say "gear doesn't matter" but if you focus on the right things; you can record amazing music on a budget.
