At 7,700 feet in Arizona’s Santa Catalina Mountains, something remarkable has been reborn.
For nearly two decades, Mount Lemmon stood without a place for travelers to stay.
In 2003, the devastating Aspen Fire destroyed the last of the historic lodges on the mountain...part of a long legacy of fires that had gradually erased Mount Lemmon’s original hospitality scene. What followed was a quiet absence. For almost 20 years, visitors could drive the winding Sky Island Scenic Byway, hike through pine forests, and take in sweeping alpine views… but there was nowhere to truly settle in, slow down, or spend the night.
That all changed when Mount Lemmon Lodge was born...again. This boutique mountain lodge is more than a new build. It’s a deeply personal revival.
Owners Diana and John Osborne both grew up on Mount Lemmon, spending their childhoods exploring its trails, breathing its cool pine air, and forming memories tied to the mountain’s unique rhythm. When they set out to rebuild a lodge in Summerhaven, it wasn’t simply a business venture, it was a labor of love rooted in nostalgia, community, and respect for the place that shaped them. Every detail reflects that connection.
From the carefully designed guest rooms and cozy gathering spaces to the way the lodge sits naturally among towering pines, Mount Lemmon Lodge was created with heart. It represents a return to what the mountain once offered: a place to pause, to reconnect with nature, and to experience a cooler, quieter side of Arizona, which is just outside Tucson.
Today, the lodge welcomes travelers seeking boutique accommodations, Arizona cabin rentals, mountain air, scenic hikes, and peaceful mornings above the desert floor. It stands as both a modern retreat and a tribute to Mount Lemmon’s past, and proof, that sometimes, the most meaningful destinations are the ones that rise again.
If you’re looking for a mountain getaway near Tucson, a unique Arizona lodging experience, or simply a different way to explore the Southwest, this is your invitation.
