Tarebhir Hike :

The Tarebhir Hike offers a peaceful and easily accessible nature escape on the outskirts of Kathmandu, featuring a picturesque Tamang village, lush forests, and expansive views of the valley.

Starting points for the hike include Budhanilkantha and Jagadol or Jogadole in the Kapan area. The well-defined trail is suitable for beginners and families, as it is not too steep and is considered easy to navigate, though it is a constant uphill walk. From the base, the hike to Tarebhir typically takes between 1 to 1.5 hours.

A key highlight of the hike is the arrival at the Tarebhir village, a Tamang settlement that lends the hike its name. Here, you can find local restaurants serving meals like dal bhat, snacks such as Wai Wai sandeko, and traditional drinks like chyang. On a clear day, you are rewarded with sweeping views of the Kathmandu Valley.
The hike became especially popular during the pandemic as locals sought nearby outdoor activities. It is not only popular with hikers but also with mountain bikers, and some hikers choose to extend their adventure by trekking further to the actual Tarebhir summit for even better mountain views.
