In this student/teacher tutorial we learn about how to write a senior secondary/advanced three level reading guide. This guide helps students read more effectively and take responsibility for comprehending different levels of text. In the video we outline and model what a detailed and higher level response of each of the three levels are (literal, inferential and evaluative). We walk through an analysis using an excerpt from To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
The aim of this tutorial is to teach both students and teachers about the three level reading guide to help create a greater understanding of effective reading strategies and skills. Three level reading is especially helpful to create independence in reading/interpreting texts and is a great approach to reading for all year levels.
