Cox’s Bazar — home to the world’s longest sea beach and a rich mosaic of hills, forests, and marine life — is now facing an ecological crisis. Unplanned tourism, forest loss, and human–wildlife conflict threaten its unique biodiversity, from elephants in the hills to sea turtles and red crabs along the coast.
The EARTH Project (Ecosystem Awareness and Restoration Through Harmony), implemented by Arannayk Foundation with support from the GEF Small Grants Programme under UNDP, works to restore balance. Through community patrol groups, elephant response teams, sea turtle hatcheries, red crab conservation groups, and youth-led awareness campaigns, local people are reclaiming stewardship of their environment.
This film documents their journey — protecting 390 hectares of habitat, rescuing wildlife, planting thousands of trees, and releasing over 5,000 hatchlings back to sea — ensuring that the next generation inherits a greener, safer, and more resilient Cox’s Bazar.
