But wait, it gets better. Every Good Friday, an event of monumental importance takes place—the British and World Marbles Championship. Dating all the way back to 1588 (yes, the year the Spanish Armada had an absolute disaster), this high-stakes clash happens at the Greyhound pub in Tinsley Green, West Sussex. Because, of course, if you're going to spend a day aggressively flicking marbles at people, you might as well do it outside a pub.
Teams of six battle it out for the coveted title, and, as with anything involving England and Germany in competition… well, let’s just say history tends to repeat itself. And by that, I mean the Germans win.
