Anne, Renata and Roman set off for one of Europe’s most infamous castles… and first survive a bus ride that feels like it was designed by someone with a grudge against large vehicles. Narrow forest roads, sharp bends, and a driver with nerves of steel. What could possibly go wrong?
We arrive at Houska Castle in the late afternoon, step through an unassuming doorway… and only later realise we have walked straight into the legendary chapel built over the so called pit to hell.
From there, things get stranger.
Demonic frescoes. An unsettling artwork filled with dead flies. Echoing stone rooms that seem to watch you back. We wander the corridors knowing the history all too well after covering Houska on True Hauntings… which somehow makes it better. And worse.
We wish we had more quiet time to investigate properly, but even without it, this castle is unforgettable.
And yes. There may or may not be a heartfelt conversation with a rather tragic paper mache Satan in the dungeon.
