A trip to South Africa is usually on Safari chasing down the big five but wait there's more to this country than just its hoofed, hairy and handsome.

Scenic have landed us in Cape Town one of South Africa's little gems, set up by the Dutch as a halfway port between Europe and the east it's grown into a world-class cosmopolitan destination.

Table Mountain is an unmistakable figure as it rises over the heart of the city and its famous white tablecloth adding just a touch of elegance.

One of the city's drawcards is that it sits right in the
middle of one of the most diverse nature reserves which runs all the way to the Cape of Good Hope.

There's been over 2,000 shipwrecks off the coast of South Africa and one of the most famous is the legend of the flying Dutchman.

That one night captain Vanderdecken was battling one of these enormous storms and unfortunately met his demise but he promised that he was going to make it around the Cape and since that day his phantom ship has been seen sailing these waters and just to add some credibility one of those sightings was by King George himself.

But the rugged coast of Cape Point attracts Mariners of all kinds.

There's only a tiny handful of African penguin colonies left so these guys are like little superstars around here but this is why I love Africa so much because you get these great opportunities to immerse yourself in the wildlife while they quite happily go about their daily business.
