Reviewing Fox Stevenson’s Enemy Brain Entertainment Suite EP

Описание: Fox Stevenson’s EP ‘Enemy Brain Entertainment Suite’ dropped on Pilot on February 1st and gave us 4 brand new tracks on top of the 5 pre-released singles (the singles being ‘Enemy Brain’, ‘Get Through’, ‘Victory Over Truth’, ‘Can’t Even Tell’ and ‘Deja Vu’, all in order of release). The overall vibe of the project is very fitting to the name, displaying a wide variety of genres, moods and styles throughout the 29:47 runtime. The structure of the EP seems to go backwards and forwards between ‘energetic and fun’ and ‘mellow and slow’ and this is what makes me think that the EP’s name fits to well- it expresses so perfectly how the brain can be so different going from one minute to the next… and this is also shown by the various genres tackled throughout. As a whole, this may be one of my favourite projects (if not my favourite) of 2023 so far. I know Aetherborne (from Chime) did have a very high average when I covered it in May but recency bias has disappeared and replay value has been made evident for each track. There’s no denying that I adore Aetherborne but I just feel that this EP reaches those corners of my brain regarding emotional impact a little more, and for that reason I think I prefer it. Enemy Brain Entertainment Suite received an average track score of 8.7/10, placing it in the ‘Amazing’ category. Given that an average score of 10/10 is virtually impossible, my true personal rating of this record would be very close to a 10.
