General Sherman Tree and Giant Forest Grove Loop in Sequoia National Park - GoPro Hiking Video

Описание: The morning is quiet as I find myself alone at the trailhead. I head into the forest. Rays of light flow through the canopy highlighting the understory’s distinctions: an array of greens, darker in the shadows that still sleep and lighter hues woken already by the sun, contrast against deep orange-red bark. I walk slowly, peacefully observing, dwarfed by giants. The tranquility is offset by the omnipresence of the delicate balance between growth and decay. These giants tell stories of previous struggles, their thick skin branded with jet-black scars. Some didn’t persevere and now stand lifelessly as charred spires burned from the inside out. Yet, fire is necessary in the life of a giant sequoia. The fallen cones, once kissed by fire, open allowing the seeds to germinate, and in many years with the right conditions, another majestic tree will grace this forest.
