They were pulled over because they were merging left while at the same time had their right turn signal on. The suspects said they had flown across country for a roller blading event and they had rented a vehicle to use, they planned to drive that rental vehicle from Arizona all the way to Oklahoma City for another roller blading convention. (OKC is a big hub for this type of illegal transportation of items)
Both the driver and the passenger had suspended licenses. While they were talking to the suspects one of the officers noticed a white towel in the rear of the vehicle that was spread out like it might be covering something.
The suspects allowed the officers to search the vehicle ( big mistake), they found 115 lbs of illegal substances in the cargo storage area under the towel. They were both charged with multiple felonies and after a year, the case is still pending. The male suspect had previously served a 10 year federal prison sentence for a similar offense.
