FULL SPEECH: Chief Minister lays draft Treaty Agreement in Parliament

The Chief Minister has laid the Treaty text Parliament this morning. Running at over 1000 pages, the document has also simultaneously been deposited in the the UK Parliament.
In his speech, Fabian Picardo went through the seven key sections which cover common and institutional provisions, circulation of persons, economy and trade, frontier workers, Financial provisions, dispute settlements and final provisions.
He said while no treaty is perfect - and this was one Gibraltar was forced to negotiate after Brexit - he stressed that British Sovereignty has not been compromised in any way.
Mr Picardo said the agreement was a very positive opportunity to move Gibraltar forward and creates a springboard to stability, certainty and a modern partnership with the EU.
With the Treaty now live on the Government's website, Treaty.gov.gi, he said there was nothing to fear and that we should look ahead to the opportunities it presents us with.
He ended his address by cautioning against allowing the ghosts of the past to dampen our ambition for a better future.
