Enjoy Ironton Creek (Ironton, CO) on a golden autumn day. Clouds were rolling by quickly, so you'll notice the light change.
Ironton Creek's unique color comes from its acidic nature. The creek was about as acidic as vinegar when this video was shot. When oxygen and water react with pyrite within the mountain, sulfuric acid is produced and acidic water exits from underground both naturally and via abandoned mine adits.
