Today the Senate approved a system where election results will be sent both electronically and manually.
Officials at polling units will upload results online, but paper results will still serve as backup if there is network failure or dispute.
This decision has sparked strong reactions because many Nigerians wanted a fully electronic process to reduce manipulation. Others support the backup method, saying Nigeria still faces connectivity problems in many areas.
