Preserved: London Country: AN264 (KPJ264W) Leyland Atlantean AN68B/1R/ Roe

Описание: So today we conclude a triple bill of vintage preserved buses, this time with some double-decker Leyland action, with Leyland's first and most successful OPO double decker. The Leyland Atlantean.

AN264 is the vehicle in question today and was new to London Country in their final batch of vehicles as new to them, when under ownership of the National Bus Company (NBC), though London Country were to subsequently obtain a large number second-hand. AN264 was new in 1981 and was allocated to Stevenage garage operating for 8 years, by which point London Country was divided into four groups, London Country North East (LCNE) before moving from LNCE to LNCW to Garston garage above Watford, and then furtherly shifting to Hemel Hempstead in 1989 and being absorbed by Luton & District in 1990. 1991 saw AN264 re-locate to Maidstone & District as 5737 before being re-bought by London Links, a subset of London & Country, based at Beddington Farm near Croydon. AN264 had been preserved in Maidstone & District condition but had been bought by new owner Wesley due to it's Stevenage connection and restored in magnificent NBC green bus livery with 'Stevenage Bus' decals.

AN264 is a Roe bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68B/1R which is powered by a Leyland O.680 engine coupled to a 5 speed semi-automatic gearbox. The unmistakable Atlantean growl is very much audible in this video. This video takes place on a private run-around Stansted Airport, which includes a visit to the original air terminal (now part of a business park).
