David Haas, MD, is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is also a Professor of Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology & Immunology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and Adjunct Professor of Internal Medicine at Meharry Medical College. He co-directs the Tennessee Center for AIDS Research, a four-way partnership between Vanderbilt, Meharry Medical College, Tennessee Department of Health, and Nashville CARES. Dr. Haas is an accomplished HIV clinical trialist and leader in human pharmacogenomics relevant to HIV and tuberculosis, where his multidisciplinary research examines the importance of human genomics for HIV and tuberculosis drug disposition, efficacy, and toxicity. He established and has led the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG, renamed Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally) Clinical Research Site at Vanderbilt since its inception. He has also led the ACTG's pharmacogenomics program since 2000. For the past 16 years, he has been principal investigator of a multidisciplinary R01, "Pharmacogenomics of HIV Therapy." Dr. Haas is a board-certified infectious diseases specialist.
