This long-format video follows a scenic drive along Utah State Route 211, also known as the Indian Creek Scenic Byway, from U.S. Highway 191 south of Moab into the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. The approximately 35-mile approach crosses classic Colorado Plateau desert terrain with red rock canyons, open sagebrush plains, and broad plateau vistas. Along the way, the drive passes Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument, a large panel of ancient petroglyphs carved into sandstone, and views toward Sixshooter Peaks near the park boundary. Inside the district, the route includes the approach to Elephant Hill Road, a rugged access road leading deeper into the Needles backcountry and trailheads. Filmed in real time in 4K HDR, the video highlights the region’s geologic diversity, from eroded sandstone layers and canyon walls to the distinctive Cedar Mesa sandstone spires that give the Needles District its name—before reaching the Needles Visitor Center and park road network.
