Описание: Newark principal Akbar Cook is back in the limelight for his innovative educational ideas that are transforming West Side High School in Newark, New Jersey and is being used as a model at other schools all across the country and the world. Principal Cook received an $10,000 last month when he appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." He previously received $100,000 from Ellen in recognition of his work for his school and community. Principal Cook said it took him two years to come up with the idea to create an Urban Farm named after the talk show host. He explains how the farm provides fresh food for the community and residual income for the student workers. The farm grows a variety of produce including apricot trees, date trees, bitter melons, collard greens and more. They're also bottling up their own hot sauce which is sold on the e-commerce site, WestSideAve.Com. The students receive the proceeds from the sales. Principal Cook penned a new book titled, Focus On The Love: A Transformational Approach To Organizational Leadership, which is currently on sale wherever books are sold.
