R. E. Brune plays a rare Vicente Arias one of perhaps 40 or fewer surviving Arias instruments made in 1893 in Ciudad Real. This video compliments our Vintage Guitar article appearing in Vintage Guitar magazine. This instrument was recently restored to top playing condition in our shop with a new fingerboard and bridge. Arias was a younger rival to Antonio de Torres, and like Torres, was self taught as a guitar maker, having worked most of his life as a cabinet maker. He won numerous gold and silver medals for his work, and moved to Madrid around 1903, where he died in 1914. This is a rosewood bodied instrument with machine heads and 25 1/2" scale.
