Al Stewart, with the The Empty Pockets backing him up, closed his set on CRUISE TO THE EDGE (abbreviated to CTTE in the title line) 2022 performing Year of the Cat (his biggest hit) after telling more of the back story on on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Mariner of the Seas on May 4, 2022. Year of the Cat was written by Al Stewart and Peter Wood (who got writing credit because of the chord Peter played on keyboards during every soundcheck, that "changed Al's life") and was the title and closing track and lead single on Al Stewart's seventh studio album released in October 1976. The single was released in July 1976, and with Alan Parsons producing at Abbey Road Studios, was a worldwide hit, peaking at number 8 in the Billboard Hot 100 single chart.
A wonderful set from a terrific singer, musician and story teller, with a fabulous sense of humor!
