Описание: BOSTON -- Troy Brouwer scored a power play goal with 1:27 left to lift the Capitals to a shocking 4-3 win over the Bruins in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series. Benoit Pouliot was called for a slash with 2:50 left and Brouwer scored from the low right circle with 37 seconds left on the power play. The defending Stanley Cup champs must now win in Washington on Sunday afternoon in Game 6 to force a Game 7 back in Boston Wednesday night.

The Bruins continued to be snakebitten on the power play in the opening period. Zdeno Chara blistered a slapshot that rang off the post and crossbar before careening to the corner. The Bruins got two more shots on a power play later in the first but couldn't not capitalize, watching their power play fall to 0-for-14 in the series.

The Bruins almost scored shorthanded when Daniel Paille broke in alone, only to hit the left post. The Bruins and Capitals skated to their seventh scoreless period of the series.

The Captials took advantage of a pair of huge breaks to break out on top in the second. Defenseman Joe Corvo blocked a blast by Marcus Johansson with his right leg. He stayed on the ice and struggled badly to remain in the play. Despite his heroic efforts, Nicklas Backstrom appeared to interfere with Greg Zanon in the crease and Alexander Semin took advantage by taking a loose puck between the circles and firing a shot past Thomas.

Just over three minutes later, Jay Beagle took a loose puck and fired a shot from the left circle. Thomas got a piece of it but couldn't control and had it slip past him. The unassisted goal put the Caps up, 2-0.

The Bruins were on the ropes before Dennis Seidenberg led the fight back. The Bruins defenseman was in line rush with Milan Lucic when he took a pass from Lucic and skated into the right circle and fired a shot past Braden Holtby at 17:21 of the second. Just 28 seconds later, Johnny Boychuk threw a shot on goal that Holtby couldn't control as his own defenseman John Erskine interfered. Marchand was there for the rebound and put a dribbling puck past Holtby to tie the game after two periods.

The Capitals took a 3-2 lead when former Bruin Mike Knuble - playing his second straight game of the series - collected a loose weakside rebound from Thomas and put it into an open net with 16:39 left in regulation. With 11:13 left, the Bruins picked a good time to end their power play drought when Dennis Wideman tripped Brad Marchand midway through the third. Dennis Seidenberg settled the puck at the right point and fed a cross-ice pass to Johnny Boychuk, who blasted a one-time slapper past Holtby for the first power play goal in 15 tries in the series.

The series shifts to Washington for Game 6 on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
