Superman is set to be the first theatrical release of James Gunn's DCU, featuring many other notable DC Comics characters and potential future Justice League members like Supergirl, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Mr. Terrific. A lot is riding on the success of the film after the failures of previous DCEU entries like Black Adam and The Flash. None of the prominent actors from Zack Snyder's Justice League will return in the DCU, including Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, or Jason Momoa as Aquaman. The success of Superman could pave the way for the general audience to become more invested in lesser-known characters like Peacemaker and Blue Beetle. Creature Commandos will be the first-ever canonical DCU project—an animated series similar to Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad but with monsters.
