-- 1/11/18 - ELLENVILLE, New York --
A man by the name of Efrain Lopez, a longtime Ellenville village trustee/school employee and someone the Ellenville Police Department Chief Philip Mattracion "personally knew for 30 years" shot and killed his longtime domestic partner and a male, Jose Cruz on Thursday at or around 10:00 hrs EST. Schools in the area were locked down immediately following the shooting. Reports said the man used the rifle to gun down the two victims in the parking lot of the Canal Lock apartments at 110 Center St. before taking his own life.
Authorities are still investigating
Ellenville Village Police was assisted by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, New York state police, Ulster K9 Unit, BCI and other local agencies.
