First Flight... at the beach... - iFlight Nazgul F5 Evoque - EP#2: Let's see what this thing can do!

Описание: After setting up the iFlight Nazgul F5 Evoque v1 in episode #1 it was time to take it out and test fly it in real-world conditions. Lucky for me my mate Dan James, who already owns a Nazgul F5, had come up from Melbourne for a fly and to give me some knowledge.

We had all day to fly, so I thought we would start out easy at FPV Park. This is where I test all my drones for the first time. It is a large park that no one goes to because it is poorly maintained. It used to be a bitumen carpark but they just put dirt on top and hope the grass grows. The only thing that grows here is midgees. Great place for FPV because you have space in front and behind you, which means you can test your VTX well. There are also a lot of gaps you can try and fly through to test yourself out.

The next stop was Pheonix Model Aviators airfield. This heaven for FPV pilots. It has a full runway and hangar bays for model aircraft of all shapes and sizes. It has plenty of space to test your aircraft at full speed. We were lucky to have the whole place to ourself on such a beautiful day. I pay yearly membership fees in order to have access to the airfield but it is a safe place to test FPV away from prying-eyes.

Once we had tested the new drone in the safe confines of FPV Park and PMA airfield it was time for me to put my big-boy pants on and send it over the beach. I know Kings Beach like the back of my hand so naturally I chose it for the maiden beach flight. Flying over this open space is really no different (in most ways) to flying over the opens spaces at FPV park and PMA airfield. The main difference is the footage looks a lot more interesting. We arrived right on golden hour and the wind was favourable for a novice pilot testing a new drone for the first time.

All-in-all it was a very successful day and I definitely learnt a lot. It was great that the tuning on the drone was so good that I felt very comfortable with it straight away and to get to the beach on day one is huge achievement. I can't wait to fly this drone more it definitely suits the purpose I just need to become a better pilot.
