When finished, the multi-purpose sporting and aquatic facility at Port Pirie, South Australia, will have a 120 square metre, state-of-the-art gymnastics hall, squash courts, dance hall, and learn-to-swim and leisure pool facilities. The design form of the proposed building celebrates the silhouetting nature of the nearby Flinders Ranges. The vibrant colours and textures, with the extensive use of cor-ten perforated metal and timber, are borrowed from the surrounding landscape and pay tribute to the industrial history of Port Pirie.
