The long-pending Hosur – Baiyyappanahalli railway line doubling project is progressing at a steady pace, offering hope for faster and more frequent train services between Bengaluru and Hosur in the coming years. The 48-km corridor, which caters to thousands of daily commuters, is considered one of the most crucial rail links for IT professionals and industrial workers.

Originally sanctioned in the 2018–19 Railway Budget, the project aims to convert the existing single line into a double line between Baiyyappanahalli and Hosur, covering key stations such as Bellandur Road, Carmelaram, Heelalige, Anekal Road, and Hosur. The project is being executed by K-RIDE (Rail Infrastructure Development Company – Karnataka).

🏗️ Current Status

Construction works are underway in multiple stretches along the route. Earthworks, track-bed formation, and bridge construction activities are progressing. Station yard remodelling has begun in sections such as Carmelaram and Heelalige, where doubling works are visibly moving forward.
The completion timeline is currently targeted for 2025–26, although official confirmation on commissioning dates is awaited.
