It’s time for the annual flats and handwashing challenge hosted by @clothdiaperpodcast . This challenge is intended to raise awareness to the accessibility and feasibility of cloth diapers!
This means that for those who are privileged to have big stashes, to minimize and only use what is truly needed for 7 days.
It means to set aside beautifully crafted WAHM/small shop cloth and opt for DIY and reusables such as: cotton t-shirts, receiving blankets, burp cloths, bath towels and washcloths. The options are plentiful!
During the challenge, we hand-wash rather than use a washer and dryer. This experience connects us more to a reality that is SO many people’s lives who don’t yet know about cloth or don’t yet have the confidence that they’d be able to cloth diaper.
This challenge is set up to start conversation about diaper need in America. 1 in 3 families report struggling to afford to diaper their babies. In a time when everything is costing more (inflation), including disposable diapers, cloth diapering is looking much more attractive for a lot of folks.
This challenge is meant to show everyone they CAN do it, even without a washer and dryer. It IS possible. And can actually be SO fun and rewarding, too.
