UK Exam for Nurses

NMC has 2 test of competencies - 1 and 2.
Test of competency 1 is also called CBT (Computer Based Test) and Test of competency 2 which is OSCE (Objective Structural Clinical Examination)

Structure of CBT

CBT has been revised on August 2021. They made lot of changes. It consist of 115 multiple choice questions which is divided into Part A (numerical part) critical questions and Part B (theoretical part). Part A has got 15 questions and part B has got 100 questions. To pass the exam part A needs 14 out of 15 which is 90% and part B needs 60 out of 100 which is 60%. Altogether 68% is required.

Result

Results will be displayed as Pass or Fail. Once failed in either numerical question or theoretical question, can only resit in failed part for 2 more attempts with 10 days interval between each attempt. If failed in first 3 attempts cannot resit for the next 6 months.

Duration

Exam takes place for 3 hours. For part A 30 minutes and for part B 2 hours 30 minutes. Approximately spend 2 minutes for each question in part A and 1.5 minutes for each question in part B. Exam takes place in Pearson Vue test centre on the booked date. Each candidate will be given a separate system to attend the exam like answering a quiz. They will be given a handy board and pen as well to work out. Before submitting the answer its always better to check whether all the questions has been answered. System will flag while submitting the answers if any of the question is not answered.

Fees

Fees structure for CBT exam is £83 which is not refunded. Usually CBT results will be revealed within 48hours.

Validity
CBT is valid for 2 years. The candidate should reach UK within 2 years after CBT.
