The Temple was founded in 1953, the temple is a beloved local shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. In 2015 the temple gained wider recognition with the installation of the 51 foot four-headed Shiva statue, known as Bangeshwar Mahadev, inaugurated by Shri Pranab Mukherjee. This statue is celebrated as the tallest Shiva statue in Eastern India and draws devotees and visitors from across the region.
The temple complex also features the 12 Jyotirlinga, allowing devotees to experience the sanctity of those sacred shrines in one place.
