Lyrics by Jean de Bresson:
A vision verdant, emerald and alive
I
That land remote, the wilds of Farnalia,
With winding ways and steep abrupt descents,
Where here and there they vanished from the view,
If pilgrims now pursued their hallowed steps.
II
Thus were they seen as touching Heaven’s height,
So lofty did their bearing seem to rise;
Now as bright Angels, winged and luminous,
Now as the host of many a flickering star,
Hastening to find its refuge, harbour sure,
Ere yet the cloak of night be fully drawn—
Those holy wanderers, passing on their way,
Star-crowned, beneath the rising shroud of dark.
III
From out the yew-wood, vast, ungraspable,
As Uppsala with temple dread adorned,
Where wrathful Dísir seemed to brood and frown—
He clutched at hand, or bough, or rugged rock,
And made him one with one of eightfold winds,
Lest he be swept away, a bird of air,
And hurled beyond, above the mighty cliffs,
That gazed with stony face on the Beyond.
IV
Or, lo! beneath, an abyss of jaggèd stone,
Where the great sea upheaved its foaming waves;
A stormful main, that from that giddy height
Seemed all to boil beneath the gazer’s eyes.
A vision verdant, emerald and alive,
Wave upon wave in thundering tumult rolled,
Those green beloved billows of the bards—
The wylmas, still by Cambria’s folk so named.

II. Así ora se les veía tocar
Los Cielos, tan elevados parecían;
Ora semejando alados Ángeles,
O una de tantas titilantes estrellas
Presurosas a tomar albergue
Cuando la negra noche arriba.
Otras veces, uno-al-otro ayudaba
A descender sin miedo entre la floresta
III.
Mundanos y no salir despedido fuera
Mente verde. Una tras otra, en sonora ebullición,
Iban y venían las verdes olas, las amadas
Por los poetas; «wylmas» como las llaman
Todavía la gente de Cambria y Loegria.
MEDIEVAL- MODERN POETRY & MUSIC. Jean de Bresson, creates lyrical and visionary works where myth, memory, and sound converge. His poems and sung ballads act as bridges—between history and the present, language and music, the visible and the unseen. Each piece resonates with echoes of troubadours, sagas, and crusade songs, while unfolding in the voices of today. Presented in Spanish, English, and Icelandic/Old Norse, his creations weave the ancient and the modern into one tapestry. Poetry is revelation: an invitation into a labyrinth of hidden meanings where faith, wonder, and imagination dwell.
