The Tamar Valley is a valley in Tasmania, Australia, about a 30-minute drive from Launceston city. It runs north-west from the northern city of Launceston to the coast on either side of the Tamar River, a distance of approximately 50 km.
More than 20 vineyards are lining the valley and tourists are guided by the Tamar Valley Wine Route. This wine route is rated as one Of The Top 10 Wine Routes In The World by the UK Essential Travel magazine. The main varieties of grapes grown are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
