Last Sunday, I took my son out after his exam.
On the way, I saw a restaurant I used to visit during my struggling days.
Back then, my husband and I would rush there for happy hour.
Share dishes.
Count money.
And I would promise myself:
“One day, when I earn well,
I’ll come here and order without thinking.”
Years passed.
Life improved.
I started earning.
And I forgot.
When I finally went back with my son,
we ordered what used to be my favourite.
But instead of enjoying it,
I found myself criticising everything.
And that’s when it hit me.
Maybe it’s not the place that changed.
Maybe I did.
The same things that once meant everything
don’t always give you the same joy once you grow.
Taste changes.
Perspective changes.
Life changes.
The real question is —
is that growth?
Or is it forgetting gratitude?
