The first session of the GLOSOLAN Soil Spectroscopy webinar 2024 was held virtually on April 16 with more than 200 participants from more than 70countries.
Prof. Asim Biswas from University of Guelph, Canada, presented using vis-NIR spectroscopy to field to leverage digital soil mapping. The webinar first explained that the application of visible and near-infrared (vis-NIR) spectroscopy has demonstrated notable success within laboratory settings. Then, listed several challenages of its deployment in field conditions. This webinar delved into case studies that highlight both the hurdles and prospects of extending vis-NIR spectroscopy applications to field environments. Additionally, the webinar also discussed how data obtained from such endeavours can be instrumental in advancing digital soil mapping.
