Right off the bat, I know I'm using an unlicensed version of Reaper, please don't murder me. I plan on purchasing a license soon, but I just can't get one right now.
With that out of the way, this is a method that I've developed over the last couple of months that has, without fail, given me a more than substantial guitar tone for absolutely free.
Here are some really useful links!
/ fearedse - Ola Englund. He models a lot of amplifiers and neat gear. I use his videos to sample audio pretty much any time I'm looking for an all-around good metal sound.
https://www.savethevideo.com/ - Save The Video. This is my website of choice for downloading YT videos, as it also allows you to convert to almost every format, along with trimming out only a section of the video itself.
http://www.igniteamps.com/#emissary - Ignite Amps / Emissary. This is one of the best free amp heads on the market right now. It's good and versatile, and it's great for recording on a budget.
https://www.positivegrid.com/bias-fx/ - Bias FX2. Simply put, this is my amp simulator of choice hands down. Combine this with Bias Amp 2 and you've got a match made to last. At the time of uploading, Bias FX2 is on a 50% off sale and costs only $50 to purchase, so I'd get it now while you still can!
• battery tone - My best recreation of the Master of Puppets tone, a tone I obtained using this method.
• Sloppy Damage Inc - A playthrough of Damage, Inc. using this method for the guitar tone.
https://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/ - ReaPlugs, the official Reaper plugins pack. If you're using a DAW other than Reaper, download these VSTs!
Thanks for watching!
