On Saturday 25 April, a group of us undertook a Sponsored 10-in-a-Day Quarter Peal Challenge, to raise money for the Ecchinswell Bell Restoration Trust and the Teenage & Young Adults Cancer Service in Guildford, both charities close to the heart of organiser Simon Lipscombe.
Starting at Thatcham at 8.30am for Grandsire Caters, we worked round Aldermaston, Monk Sherborne, Basingstoke, Church Oakley, Hannington, Kingsclere, Shaw and Newbury, before finishing at Burghclere, coming into rounds just before 9pm to much cheering outside the tower (and much relief within!)
Overall a tiring but very enjoyable day; big well done Si for organising! Si Lipscombe and me (Simon Edwards) were the only two ringers to ring in all 10; Graham Nobbs and John Simpson each rang in 9 and Kieran Downer 8. The quarters can be found on the link below:
