On the first weekend of January, several railways host a intensive service to end the season, one of these railways being the Swanage, who ran a 3 set service with 3 steam engines and 2 diesels rostered. However, a mechanical problem involving one of the Class 33 ''Crompton'' Diesels resulting in a roster change saw 34070 ''Manston'' operate in its place for the weekend.
