She Jumped From 20,000 Feet on a Board — The Insane Skysurfing Record

But if you suddenly see an athlete falling out of the sky strapped to a board — no, you’re not hallucinating.
This is a real extreme sport called skysurfing.
The sport appeared in the late 20th century when thrill-seekers combined free-fall skydiving with surfing and snowboarding techniques. Athletes strap their feet to a lightweight board and jump from helicopters or aircraft at extreme altitudes.
Falling through the air at incredible speed, they perform spins, flips, and aerial tricks, literally “riding” the sky before deploying their parachutes.
Among these fearless athletes is Olga Naumova, a skysurfer with more than 17,000 jumps.
On November 10, she attempted one of the most dangerous jumps ever performed. A helicopter carried her above Syangboche, Nepal, high over the snowy Himalayas near Mount Everest.
No one had ever attempted a skysurf jump from such an altitude before.
When the helicopter reached 20,945 feet — over 6 kilometers high, Olga stepped into the void.
She accelerated toward the mountains below while powerful winds and thin air made control extremely difficult. Every movement mattered. Yet she remained in control.
After several minutes in the air, she completed an 8,000-foot descent, deployed her parachute, and safely landed on a mountain runway at more than 3,700 meters altitude.
The record was set.
After landing, Olga raised her fists in the air, filled with adrenaline after one of the most intense rides imaginable.
Later she said:
“Since I discovered skysurfing, it has been my dream to perform a unique skydive and inspire girls around the world to dream big and be fearless.”
And after a record like this, one thing is clear:
skysurfing proves that fear exists only until the moment you take the leap.
