History
State Bank Of India (SBI) with over 200 year history, is the largest commercial bank in india in terms of deposits, profits, branches, customers and employees. It is a PSU bank with 54.23% (as on 31st march 2017) sharing of government of india. SBI is ranked top 50 global banks.

As on 6 feb 2020, SBI have 13 board member including 1 chairman, 4 managing directors and 8 directors.
1- Established on the recommendations of , “ All India Rural Credit Survey By AD Gorewala
2- History of the SBI starts with the first decade of the 19th century, with the establishment of, “ BANK OF CULCUTTA 1806 name changed BANK OF BENGAL, BANK OF BOMBAY (1840) , BANK OF MADRAS (1843)
3- With the combination of these three PRESIDENCY BANKS in 1921, “ IMPERIAL BANK OF INDIA” IS established.
4- On the nationalization of IMPERIAL BANK on 1 july 1955, State Bank Of India (SBI) comes into existence under SBI Act 1955
5- In 1860, after Paper Currency Act 1861, only SBI having power to Issue Currency Notes.

First international branch of State Bank Of India (SBI) – London (1963) Currently State Bank Of India (SBI) works in 36 countries all over world with 195 foreign offices.

As of 31 March 2017, the State Bank Of India (SBI) group had 59,291 ATMs at the same date SBI have 24000 Bank Branches all over india. Which is Largest network in both government and private sector in india.

Total no of SBI Customers is 42 Crore which is 1/3rd of the total Indian population. It means every 3rd person in india is SBI Customer. In terms of Indian rupees SBI have a total Business of 33 Lakh Crore. And it has 2 lakh 78 thousands employees.
