First off, want to apologize for the Title and Text screen images that have existing text near the bottom so the label overlaps and is hard to read. Tbh it would just be too much of a pain in the ass to fix for the value id get out of it.
BTSX E2 is clearly a natural progression, and improvement on the first episode. Maps become more visually distinctive and varied. Music likewise has become more energetic and have their own identities. Lots of very good and memorable tracks here.
I described the first episodes album as "wet" in a way, feeling like a rainy day. Strangely, like half the song titles here are in some way a reference to rain. However they really do not sound any more wet to me nor do they particularly fit that visual style anymore at least compared to the first episode. This isn't a complaint though, just a funny observation. For a totally vanilla wad, this is about as good as it gets.
Anyways, this is an extremely impressive with a lot of talent and a lot of tracks worth highlighting. My top 3 would be:
-Stormwater, which I would consider for my top 10 overall I love the buildup to that electric piano & polysynth breakdown.
-Twilit Jungle, which uses a lot of different instruments extremely effectively and I find to be very adventurous and atmospheric
-Free from My Shackles, which is pretty funky, but has my favorite usage of the Fantasia instrument. Very cool with how it moves around with stereo.
I would also like to highlight Scattered Ashes, Birdsong, and Kashmoney Temple. Those 3 I see as standouts for being more upbeat and almost jovial. "Kashmoney Temple" especially is one of the most appropriately named midis I can think of. I listen to that and think "yea, that makes sense". I just wish that map had some big gold temple somewhere in a secret I could've taken a screenshot of instead.
I am hoping episode 3 comes in the near future. I know its been in development for like 7 years by now. But really I just care about getting my hands on those sweet sweet midis.
