After retreating from the Brotherton Farm, Union troops come across unexpected high ground, allowing them to reform their lines. Some forces get swept off the field, while others stay and fight from their new positions, allowing the Union Army to successfully retreat back to Chattanooga. Thus, George "The Rock of Chickamauga" Thomas is born.
