Four UT students are using their STEM and music backgrounds to create a synthetic bassoon reed that can last up to one year and span all the octaves of a traditional reed. Spurred by a lack of quality bassoon reeds in the marketplace, they're determined to make the instrument more accessible and affordable to musicians.
As one of last year's winners of the Butler School's Rainwater grants, they have used the funds to purchase materials to propel their project forward!
