Hanora Kamen (Lady Macbeth), Patrick Osbourne (Macbeth) and Roxy Faridany (Macduff) join students in performing the famous 'out damned spot' speech from Shakespeare's Macbeth.

In this soliloquy, Lady Macbeth is seen sleepwalking and slowly descending to madness, as she imagines blood on her hands.

This speech was created as a teaching resource and celebration of Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank: Macbeth, a fast-paced, action-packed version created especially or young people, and is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare for everyone.

The Globe’s Director of Education Lucy Cuthbertson (2025 Olivier nominated Rough Magic) directs Shakespeare’s tragic tale of ambition and tyranny.

Playing with Deutsche Bank: Macbeth runs until 20 April in the Globe Theatre: https://bit.ly/MACBETH25

00:02 Out, damned spot, out, I say! One. Two.
Why then, ’tis time to do ’t. Hell is murky. Fie, my
lord, fie, a soldier and afeard? What need we fear
who knows it, when none can call our power to
account? Yet who would have thought the old man
to have had so much blood in him?

00:22 The Thane of Fife had a wife. Where is
she now? What, will these hands ne’er be clean? No
more o’ that, my lord, no more o’ that. You mar all
with this starting.

00:32 Here’s the smell of the blood still. All
the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little
hand. O, O, O!

00:44 Wash your hands. Put on your nightgown.
Look not so pale. I tell you yet again, Banquo’s
buried; he cannot come out on ’s grave.

00:54 To bed, to bed. There’s knocking at the
gate. Come, come, come, come. Give me your
hand. What’s done cannot be undone. To bed, to
bed, to bed.
