What’s happening in the planet Viltrum during Invincible. See,we’ve seen Viltrumites sent across the galaxy, conquering planet after planet, but we’re never shown what’s actually happening on Viltrum.
Even the top commanders, like Kregg and Anissa, are almost always seen in spaceships instead of on their home world.
And if that seems strange, it’s because Viltrum isn’t occupied anymore.
Viltrum is currently empty of Viltrumites.
Instead, the planet serves as a capital city for the Viltrumite Empire.
But that’s not the whole story.
See, later in the Invincible storyline, Thaedus, Omni-Man, and Invincible destroy Viltrum by flying at maximum speed through the planet’s core.
This completely devastates Thragg, not because he lost his home, but for a far more dangerous reason. Viltrum is a symbol of power.
And its destruction proves that the Viltrumite Empire can be defeated, marking the beginning of the end.
