The Irish Defence Forces’ 1920 pattern Rolls-Royce armoured car, Sliabh na mBan, and the Army No.1 Band at Cathal Brugha Barracks on 17th May 2016. Sliabh na mBan and the band were taking part in a commemoration of the British Army’s transfer of the Barracks (then called Portobello Barracks) to the (Irish) National Army on 17th May 1922.
Sliabh na mBan is the sole survivor of 13 Rolls-Royce armoured cars bought by the newly independent Irish state (then called the Irish Free State) in 1922.
The other vehicle featured is a Piranha IIIH close reconnaissance vehicle (CRV). 18 CRV vehicles are in service and are equipped to provide Army commanders with a mobile, armoured ISTAR (intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance) capability.
Each is equipped with the Protector M151 roof-mounted remote weapon station (RWS). The Protector RWS in this CRV is fitted with a Heckler & Koch grenade machine gun (GMG), 40 mm x 53 (high velocity) calibre.

A second Sliabh na mBan video will appear in 2017.
